Welcome to the babbling’s report the accompanying newsletter to my podcast formally titled “babblings of a twentysomething” but guess what?! We’re rebranding to just “babblings” Ya know, streamline 😉
The babblings report will strive to be a weekly newsletter, however it really depends on my recording and uploading schedule since it’s meant to accompany my podcast. My love for an in depth and lengthy youtube or podcast episode description was getting out of hand. So, I figured I’ll store all my extra thoughts, things I wanted to mention but forgot, plus resources from the episode here! The babblings report will also get early access to the latest episode. Over the last 6 months my life has completely changed and stayed the same. Even though the course of my life has been filled with detours and traumatic hurdles, this time I’m a completely different person. Something fundamentally has changed inside me. 1. The Witching Hour by Anne Rice

I’ve just started this book literally only on chapter 1, but Anne Rice does a great job creating such an atmosphere it’s like I can feel the humidity and heaviness of New Orleans. What’s better than a spooky, magic story set across generations, and revolving around my favorite magical place New Orleans! This is a huge book and I’ll probably be reading it simultaneously as I go through the rest of my TBR this fall 🙂
2. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
“Obsessed by creating life itself, Victor Frankenstein plunders graveyards for the material to fashion a new being, which he shocks into life by electricity. But his botched creature, rejected by Frankenstein and denied human companionship, sets out to destroy his maker and all that he holds dear.”
I’ve started this as well and my oh my! What a romantic Mary Shelley was. When I realized she wrote this at 19 years old I new I had to add it to the TBR. The gore and lore of the popularized media version of Frankenstein was never really something I was into. But I’m so glad I picked this up, she writes with such heart and who else but a 19 year old girl could write a book that’s really about the lengths we’ll go to remove loneliness and longing from out lives.
3. The Secret History by Donna Tartt
“Under the influence of a charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at a New England college discover a way of thought and life a world away from their banal contemporaries. But their search for the transcendent leads them down a dangerous path, beyond human constructs of morality.”
So excited to start this one and while my other pics satisfy my need for magic or gore this fall, The Secret History should itch that dark academia scratch. To say I’ve heard great things about this book is an understatement so I’m excited for her to join the library and see if I think it lives up to the hype! Along with these I’ll also be working to finish some other fall books like “A Interview With a Vampire” and “Wuthering Heights”.
🌟 COOL BITCHES YOU SHOULD FOLLOW 🌟
One of my goals in the lastest episode of babblings is to hopefully show you that you really are the coolest person you know. And if you’re not it’s probably because you’re too busy trying to mimic what you think cool people do… and the people you think are cool probably aren’t. I want to uplift people who actually are cool which to me means they have something to say. I admire people that have something real and authentic to add to the universal conversation and that aren’t worried about what other people are doing. I like bitches that are themselves! So, I’m sharing just a snippet of some people I’ve been admiring lately, internet personalities, fashion people, and substack writers. Here’s my list of cool and hot people that I would actually take advice from:
1. @LadyMissKay_ (Kay Poyer)
This woman right here is my modern day oracle! I first discovered Kay through tiktok where literally every video she makes a point that I had been ruminating on or hadn’t even thought of. Kay lives her life so authentically and is one of the most critical and REAL thinkers on the internet. Culture commentary, life advice, or my favorite one of her latest videos where she sends a PSA to our Sally Beauty employees that the bitch getting hair dye at 8pm on a Sunday is not worried about proper procedures. 2. @HandsomeGirly
Creator of the Starmuffs, this fashion icon and business owner is always showing her unique, fun, and effortless style. It’s so important for me to watch women that have similar body types to me have fun with clothing. It helps me figure out the shape and details I want to add to my wardrobe. While I have a more relaxed style personally if I need inspo I’m scrolling through Handsome Girly’s insta feed!

3. @KelleyHeyer
You may know Kelley from tiktok after her Apple dance to the Charli XCX song blew up this summer. That’s how I found Kelley and quickly realized she wasn’t just the average tiktoker. Kelley’s personal style is on point and she does a great job representing sustainable fashion by regularly showing her outfits of the week where she repeats pieces not only from previous videos, but also repeats in the same week. As someone working to consume less and who doesn’t subscribe to normal beauty standards (shaving) Kelley is an important figure for me to look to and pushes me to continue living in my own authenticity.
4. love, kamory
So excited to have found love, kamory!
has such critical and introspective takes on herself and the world around her. An important voice as we all have a hunger for authenticity post the rise of manufactured influencers. Plus, anybody that includes astrology into their writing is a girl from my own heart!
5. stone in the stillwater creek
I first found
on TikTok, her poetic and spellbinding words sucked me in and the same can be said for her writing. I’m so excited to read more from her compelling and reflective POV.
🎵 All About Albums 🎵
Lately I’ve really been in an album phase. Instead of my playlist or my favorites that I find on Spotify with a mix a genre and artists, I’ve been opting to listen to one body of work at time. Maybe I’m just needing the simplicity, but I think there’s something to really immersing yourself in an album and going on the ride the artist intended. (I AM NOT A MUSIC CRITIC AND DON’T REALLY HAVE A LOT TO SAY THESE ARE JUST MY THOUGHTS & WHAT I LIKE) Here’s what I’m reaching for:

🐊 Alligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii
I don’t know what she put into this album but whatever it is I want MORE! Doechii is just doing it different and giving us such a diverse sound against other mainstream female rappers. It gives real old school mixtape vibes and she’s being raw on the tracks about her life and struggles, so relatable. 💋 Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Every fall I fall back in love with this man. Something about the change of seasons makes me want to groove and I always find myself listening to soul, Motown, and funk. It’s just want the air feels like 🤷🏻♀️ I mean you guys know this album goes CRAZY and holds some of Marvins best hits.
